Riga, Latvia – The 37th AEHT Conference gathered over thousand students and professionals in the heart of Latvia, highlighting the culinary and hospitality skills of Europe’s next generation. Organised by Culinary Heritage partner schools in Latvia, this major event brought together participants for a variety of competitions and celebrations honoring talent in service, culinary, and hospitality skills. The event shone a spotlight on Latvia’s rich culinary heritage and its role within the broader European culinary landscape.
One of the highlights of the conference was the seminar, “The Culinary Heritage of Europe – From Ancient Times to the Present Times.” This seminar offered engaging presentations and tastings that celebrated Latvia’s culinary traditions. The Latvian Culinary Heritage network, known locally as Kulinarais Mantojums, was presented by Ogre Technical School, a valued Culinary Heritage partner and educational center. Adding to this celebration of Latvian produce, Aizpute Wines, led by passionate owner Mārtiņš Sants, introduced attendees to “Passion in a Bottle” - a series of fruit wines crafted from rhubarb, lingonberries, and blackcurrants. The unique flavors were met with great appreciation from the audience, who enjoyed an authentic taste of Latvia’s rich fruit wine tradition.
