Alanya Municipality Adopts Culinary Heritage Certification System for Antalya Region

Today, February 4th, marks a significant milestone in the journey of Culinary Heritage as Alanya Municipality officially voted in favour of adopting the Culinary Heritage Certification System as a License Holder in the city council. This decision not only solidifies Alanya's commitment to preserving and promoting its rich culinary traditions but also sets the stage for an expanded and modernised approach to culinary excellence in the entire Antalya region.

Alanya has been a pivotal player in the Culinary Heritage Network since 2012, operating under the banner of Mutfak Mirası (Culinary Heritage). Over the past decade, the municipality has worked tirelessly with local businesses to elevate the region's culinary reputation, gaining widespread recognition throughout Türkiye for its dedication and results.

First in Türkiye to Implement the Updated Certification System

With this bold step, Alanya becomes the first region in Türkiye to fully implement the updated Culinary Heritage Certification System. What makes this adoption even more impactful is their decision to extend the license to cover the entire Antalya region—one of Türkiye’s most dynamic tourism hubs. This expansion will unlock immense possibilities, allowing the certification system to reach a larger network of top-tier restaurants and producers, elevating the region's hospitality and culinary standards even further.

A Unified Vision Under New Leadership

Culinary Heritage expresses heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team at Alanya Municipality for their unwavering commitment to this initiative. Leading this charge is the newly elected mayor, Osman Tarık Özçelik, who has continued to prioritise culinary heritage and local food production as key pillars of the municipality’s development strategy.

Under Mayor Özçelik's leadership, the vision is clear: to gather the elite of restaurants and producers under the certification, creating a unified effort to raise Alanya and the wider Antalya’s hospitality and tourism standards to unparalleled levels.

Exciting Next Steps: Training and Assessments Begin

The next phase of this journey is already in motion. This spring, Alanya Municipality will host the obligatory training for License Holders, an essential component of the Culinary Heritage Certification System. The training will be led by Araz Aknam, Culinary Heritage's Turkish-based Certification Inspector and a prominent figure in the country's hospitality industry.

In addition to the training, 25 companies - a mix of the region’s finest restaurants and producers - will undergo assessments during the training week. These assessments will not only certify these businesses but also generate significant momentum and promotion for the certification system in this key tourism region. With Araz Aknam at the helm, the process is set to attract attention and further enhance the visibility of Culinary Heritage across Türkiye.

A Bright Future for Antalya’s Culinary Scene

With the Culinary Heritage Certification System now fully adopted in the Antalya region, the potential is extraordinary. The expanded reach and higher standards will not only benefit certified businesses but also strengthen the entire region's reputation as a world-class culinary and tourism destination.

We eagerly anticipate the results of this collaboration and look forward to the many exceptional businesses that will join the certification in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as Alanya’s and Antalya regions top restaurants and producers officially become part of the Culinary Heritage network.

Here’s to a future where local traditions meet global excellence, setting new benchmarks for hospitality and tourism by the Turkish riviera and beyond!

Thank you, Alanya Municipality, for your continued dedication and vision. Let’s keep making history together!
