Find Your Unforgettable Taste!
Western Pomerania-Rügen is located in northeast Germany, directly on the Baltic Sea coast. With an area of 3,207 km², it is the fifth largest district in Germany. More than 225,000 people live here.
The largest town in our district is the Hanseatic town of Stralsund. It is known for its historical world cultural heritage sites and as the gateway to the island of Rügen. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit the town and its sights every year and drive through it on their way to Rügen.
On the Baltic Sea coast of Western Pomerania-Rügen you will find the island of Rügen, Germany's largest island, and the small islands of Hiddensee and Ummanz in front of it, as well as the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula chain. These very popular holiday regions are known throughout Germany.
Many tourists visit the mainland region far away from the coast to watch the crane migration in the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park or to roam the old beech forests, which have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On your way across the islands or the mainland of Western Pomerania-Rügen you will find the white chef's hat on a blue background at more and more doors. Our region is characterized by the many small, regional producers who produce regional treasures from local raw materials, by many farm shops and restaurants that offer regional products and dishes.
Here everyone will find something for their taste that makes Western Pomerania-Rügen unforgettable to them.
Western Pomerania is worth a trip at any time of the year! We look forward to seeing you at some point.
